Mexico- Part 6

Hi!  This is part 6.  Enjoy!  In the morning, we drive into town and see this statue.

We go to a farmer's market.  Sorry that everything looks kinda pink.  It's the pink tarp that is stretched across the tops of stands.

We see a lady making fresh juice.

So much fruit.

This is some sort of spice I think.

After going to the market, we explore the town and go to this hotel for lunch. 

Inside we see this pretty stained glass ceiling.

We drink these while we eat our lunch.

We go on a small tour and see this old building.

We visit this church.  So pretty!

We also got to go to a candy museum.  This lady is giving a demonstration on making quince ate (pronounced ah-tay).  It's a type of fruit leather candy.

She is stirring the quince paste.

The paste is pressed into molds to form what is seen above.

After the demonstration, we visit the giftshop.

This is the candy from earlier, in block form.

At the giftshop, we buy cake and enjoy it with coffee and hot chocolate.

At night, we go to eat dinner at Lupita's.

Mexico- Part 5

Hi everyone here's part 5, as promised.  We woke up early in the morning to go see temples.

This is what the temple rock looks like up close.

We see these snake heads poking out of the sides of the temple.

We climb the sun temple which is 20 stories high!  So tiring to climb....

At the top of the temple, everything down below looks very tiny.

At the top of the sun temple, we can see it's twin, the moon temple.

A sign that explains the history of the temples.

We leave the temples and see cactus on our way to a shop.

A woman demonstrates how to get thread out of this spiky plant.

The tip of the plant is also very effective as a needle.

After that, we go on a 4 hour drive to our next destination, Morelia. This is a random statue we saw on the drive.

After that long drive, we stop to eat.  This is some steak with some sort of taco thing.

This is some steak and potato chips.

Plum Cake

Hey sorry I haven't posted for a while.  There was a lot of plums growing in my backyard so I made plum cake.  It was pretty sour :P.

Mexico- Part 4

Hi everyone!  This is part 4.  Enjoy the pictures!  In the morning, we were hoping to go to the Diego Rivera mural in Museum National.  Sadly, it was closed so we went to the Children Museum.  This is some napkin ink art we did inside.

This one was Pastrysister's.

We made art using a pendulum type drawing device.

Tada!  The end result.

Outside, we saw a large pool with balls you could toss into spinning hoops.  It was really hard.  :(

We visited the bubble center and made HUGE bubbles :D

We went to the museum's Jardin de Mariposa.  Sadly, all the butterflies were fake .  At least they were made of recyclables so that's good for the environment...

We left the museum and came to this seafood place for lunch.

We drank Boing.  They're fruit drinks.  We had guava and mango flavor.  It was good.

This is a shrimp cocktail we ordered.

This is what I had.  It's a red snapper.  Very tasty :)

After eating lunch, we walk inside a market.  This is a stand inside.

A stand filled with all sorts of candy, baskets, and pinatas.  Quick fact:  Orginal pinatas have 7 spikes to represent the seven deadly sins.

Another stand, this one has gigantic lollipops!  The spiky thing you see is made of jello.

Outside of the market, we bought a baby lime popsicle..

We bought another popsicle, this one is tamarind flavor.  There is a wallet for size comparison.

An adult hand held up also for size comparison.  It was really tiny!

We drive to a bakery named Ecaroz.

I thought these cookies looked kind of cute but also kinda creepy.  What do you think?
