While Dogluver is working on more fashion sketches, I like to post a few more drawings from Amy Smilovic's sketchbook for inspirations. The first set of sketches are pencil sketches with just a hint of color. The second set are water color sketches. I am fascinated by her skillful use of different mediums, yet still maintaining that fun-loving, carefree and exuberant vibe in her sketches. What do you think?
WOW!! Those are...nice. The first one is not particularly my taste. I find the over-exaggerated bodies to be a little....creepy.
ReplyDeleteHOWEVER!! The watercolor one looks WONDERFUL!! I can't believe she can get such precise lines and such wonderful blending from water color!! I REALLY like those "sketches" (since they are not in pencil...I don't know what to call them)
HAHAHA…..THANK YOU for Dogluver's comment! I have to admit Dogluver's comment gives me a whole new dimension of looking at the sketches. When I first came across the set of pencil sketches by Amy, my impression was HOW CUTE and STYLISH!!!!! Now after reading Dogluver's comment, I suddenly am reminded of the animated movie "Coraline" when I look at the stick thin drawings. Perhaps it is the pink fluffy 'eyeballs' ????? Yeah…..I can definitely see an element of creepiness in there :D
ReplyDeleteIn any case, takeaway#1 for me is "Art is Fun" because it allows for a multitude of imagination and interpretation. Takeaway#2 is it pays to listen to other people's opinion because they may show me an angle that I have totally missed before. Okay….enough lessons learnt, back to fun sketching :D
I was thinking of that movie too...
ReplyDeleteYes... especially the eyeballs...pink... (either a bad infection of pink eye or perhaps... ZOMBIES!!!)
Or, they were attacked by evil pom poms....
ReplyDeleteProbably not.. cause then they wouldn't replace your eyes...
